A massive, modern, and occasionally chaotic terminal, Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok is many travelers’ first impression of the country. This primary airport handles the majority of international flights. Be prepared for long walks between gates—this place is enormous.
The layout is straightforward: the 4th floor is Departures, the 2nd floor is Arrivals, and the 1st floor houses bus ticket counters, including services to Pattaya, and a food court for staff and taxi drivers with more reasonable prices. Despite the abundance of shops and restaurants, expect typical big airport issues: passport control lines can exceed an hour during peak times, and food and water prices in the secure area are heavily marked up. Service can vary—from exceptionally helpful staff to complete indifference, as reviews note.
