Lotus’s North Pattaya is a major hypermarket where you can stock up on groceries, household items, and grab a budget-friendly meal at the food court.

Place Description

This is a classic, no-frills yet highly functional supermarket in North Pattaya, conveniently located right by the bustling Sukhumvit Road. Both expats in cars and tourists staying in nearby apartments come here for their weekly shopping. The vibe is all business: the clatter of carts, announcements over the PA, and focused shoppers checking their lists. It’s all about shopping and eating here, without any entertainment distractions.

The layout is simple: the ground floor houses the main grocery giant and a food court, while smaller shops like the DIY paradise Mr. DIY are on the second floor. Decathlon used to be here but has moved out. The main hassle is accessibility. Getting to the second floor with a stroller or suitcase can be a challenge due to barriers by the escalators and the not-so-obvious elevator locations.

Basic Information

  • Address: 221, 19 Moo 5, Pattaya City, Bang Lamung District (at the intersection of North Road and Sukhumvit)
  • Opening Hours: Daily, approximately 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Warning: doors might close exactly at ten, sometimes without notice of which exit remains open.
  • Best Time to Visit: Weekdays before 5:00 PM to avoid evening traffic and checkout lines.
  • Budget: Food court meal ≈ 60-100 ฿, a big grocery haul for a week ≈ 1500-2000 ฿.

Why Go

  • Huge selection of groceries, including imported goods, fresh seafood, and ready-to-go meals.
  • Clean and air-conditioned food court on the ground floor with a wide range of Thai dishes at fixed prices.
  • Mr. DIY on the second floor offers everything for the home — from batteries to gardening tools.
  • Apart from food, there’s affordable clothing, luggage, and household appliances, which is convenient for newcomers.

Insider Tips

  • Double-check food court prices against your bill. Some tourists reported being overcharged.
  • Accessing the second floor with strollers and luggage carts is tricky. Look for elevators as barriers are placed before escalators.
  • Don’t plan on shopping after 10:00 PM. Security may close the nearest exit right on time, requiring a detour.
  • Promotional deals with gifts for purchases don’t always deliver: the advertised items might be out of stock, even if the ads are still up.

Logistics

  • Tuk-tuk (Songthaew): The standard 10-baht route doesn’t come here. The easiest way is via a white songthaew on Sukhumvit or catching a ride on North Road.
  • Taxi (Bolt/Grab): Search for “Lotus’s North Pattaya”. Access is convenient, though traffic can build up during evening rush hours at the Sukhumvit intersection.
  • Own Transport: There’s a large free ground and underground parking area for cars and bikes. Spaces are almost always available.

The Unique Factor

Here, you can find Bulgarian yogurt under the “Bulgaria” brand — a quirky nod to the Balkans, little known in Thailand, but the dairy product is surprisingly familiar and produced here.
