“Обязательно пройдите по малозаметной тропинке за скалы справа — там находится крошечный дикий пятачок с лучшим видом на закат во всей Паттайе.”

Description

A Hidden Cove of Rocks and Clear Waters

Located on the northern tip of the island, Ta Yai Beach is a compact, highly photogenic stretch of coast on Koh Larn where coarse, golden sand meets dramatic, craggy cliffs.

At a Glance

People come here for the quietude and the frame-perfect aesthetics. Unlike the bustling Tawaen Beach, you won’t find endless rows of rented lounge chairs or persistent vendors here. Instead, trees fringe the waterline, providing plenty of natural shade. In the morning and toward dusk, you’ll see a steady rotation of creators lining up on the side rocks to capture the perfect social media shot. The water is genuinely clear with a beautiful turquoise hue, making it a fantastic spot for some light snorkeling.

However, paradise has its trade-offs. The beach can occasionally suffer from washed-up debris, and the infrastructure is minimal—there is only one small, humble cafe. Facilities like proper changing rooms or showers are virtually non-existent, so consider this a “wilder” beach experience. If you’re planning a full day here, bring your own mat and stock up on drinking water at the shops near Naban Pier before you head out.

Basic Information

  • Address: Northern tip of Koh Larn. It’s a dead-end road, about a 20-minute walk from the pier.
  • Hours: Open 24/7, though the best conditions for swimming and sunbathing are 08:00–18:30.
  • Best Time to Visit: Arrive before 10:00 AM to beat the photo-seekers, or after 17:00 when the heat mellows out.
  • Budget: Drinks at the local cafe run about 60–80 ฿. Public showers are essentially unavailable.

Why Go

  • Crystal clear water with great visibility for snorkeling—you’ll spot schools of fish darting around the submerged rocks.
  • Natural tree shade allows you to skip the umbrella rental in the morning.
  • A perfect backdrop for photography, featuring massive boulders and lush greenery.
  • A welcome escape from the crowds, loud music, and jet skis found elsewhere on the island.

Insider Tips

  • Watch out for sea urchins! They lurk on the seabed just past the shallows. The “safe” zone ends where the water reaches your neck; beyond that, tread carefully.
  • The rocks bordering the cove are sharp. If you’re scrambling over them for a better angle, definitely wear water shoes.
  • Bring your own towels and extra water. There’s no easy way to rinse off the salt here.
  • If you want to experience Ta Yai Beach completely deserted, make the trek at sunrise.

Logistics

  • Songthaew: There is no fixed bus route here. You’ll need to hire a motorbike taxi (approx. 40–50 ฿ per person) or negotiate a private fare with a songthaew driver.
  • Taxi: Ride-sharing apps like Bolt or Grab don’t operate on Koh Larn. It’s a breezy 20-minute walk from Naban Pier if you’re traveling light.
  • Personal Transport: There is a free dirt lot where you can park your rented scooter. Cars are not used on Koh Larn.

The Unique Factor

To the right of the main sandy beach, there’s a faint, hidden path. If you carefully scramble over the rocks, you’ll emerge onto a tiny, rugged patch of coast where the boulders dominate the shore, offering an incredible, unobstructed view of the sunset.

Insider tips
