Tien Beach (หาดเทียน)

100-200 THB Early morning, late afternoon 3-4 hours
“The highlight is definitely the daily parade of resident geese that charge into the ocean. It is an unforgettable and hilarious sight.”

Description

Tien Beach manages to escape the overwhelming, chaotic crowds found at neighboring Tawaen Beach, yet it still offers all the essential amenities. The sand is soft, the water is invitingly clear, and the shallow entry makes it an ideal spot for a leisurely dip. A major visual highlight is the rustic wooden walkway clinging to the cliffs—a photogenic path that leads you from the parking area to the beach itself. It’s postcard-perfect and worth the trek.

However, keep your expectations grounded: maintenance can be hit-or-miss. You might encounter litter, and the plastic sunbeds are often weathered. The service can also be a bit brusque, especially if you snag a front-row seat without an invite. Still, if you can overlook the rough edges, the sheer beauty of the cove makes it a fantastic escape from the Pattaya mainland. Just hop on an early morning ferry from Bali Hai Pier and you’ll be there in no time.

Why visit

Impeccable Swimming: The seabed is smooth and rock-free, with stunningly clear turquoise water.
Natural Shade: There are plenty of trees lining the back of the beach—perfect if you want to skip the rental fee and chill in the shade.
Water Sports: Standard thrills like jet skis and banana boat rides are readily available.
The Famous Geese: These feathered celebrities make their grand appearance twice a day, rushing toward the water in a hilarious, camera-worthy stampede.

Insider tips

💡 Inspect the plastic loungers before paying; many are cracked or stained, so pick the best of the bunch.

💡 Prices at the permanent beach cafes are often inflated; stick to the mobile street-food carts or bring your own snacks.

💡 The best loungers right by the water are often unofficially reserved for regulars; don’t be surprised if staff are territorial.

💡 Keep small change handy for the paid toilets.

💡 Expect to walk about 200 meters along the rickety cliff-side wooden path to reach the sand.
